Particle Motion Characteristics in W-Shaped Hydrocyclones

To investigate the multiphase flow characteristics and improve classification mechanism of a W-shaped hydrocyclone, this paper adopts numerical simulation method to evaluate effects particle size density on separation motion behavior particles. Forces, such as centrifugal inertia force, pressure gradient force fluid drag which control motion, are analyzed, hydrocyclones is examined in terms distribution efficiency. The results indicate that radial forces hundreds times gravity main driver motion. Particle changes greatly impact movement coarse particles, but no notable change occurs fine With increasing density, cut decreases, fractionation accuracy increases.
